Australia's 'Yowie Man'
Resumes Hunt For Lithgow Panther
[Original headline: 'Yowie man' returns to hunt elusive big cat]

The man who calls himself the "Yowie Man" has returned to Lithgow to continue his search for a big, black panther-like creature.

Tim the Yowie Man says more than 190 people have reported sightings of the creature in recent weeks and he is determined to catch it.

The "crypto-naturalist" says he plans to concentrate his search on two properties where the apparent cat is known to make regular appearances and hopes new evidence will provide some helpful clues.

"In the last week or so there's been several cases near Lithgow where scratchings have been made on a tree and I've seen the photos and they can only have been made by a big cat or it's a hoax, and I seem to think that it's definitely a big cat," he said.

"I'm going to stay there for at least a week. I'm not going to move from that spot.

"That panther seems to be coming through there every three or four days - if I'm there for a week I should be able to nab it on film."
