DHARMAPURI: The mysterious killing of four sheep by some strange animal here on Saturday night has created panic among the residents and farmers of Indur.
According to sources, M Krishnan of Koorampatti village in Indur, Pennagaram taluk, had 15 sheep. On Saturday, he tied them in the farm and went home. Around midnight, when he heard the sheep making some strange sounds and rushed to the farm, he found some of the sheep missing. He found that there were only 10 sheep, two of them with injuries on the ears.
In the morning, he found the bodies of four sheep at different places near the farm. One another was still missing.
All the dead sheep had injuries on them and their livers were missing. The villagers suspected that some animal could have come and dragged the sheep out of the farm before killing them.
Indur police have registered a case.
The sudden killing of sheep has created panic among the farmers who are engaged in livestock farming in and around Indur.
The cause of the death of the sheep was yet to be ascertained, police said.
