During April there has been a flurry of reports in Chilean newspapers about the activities of a mythical and legendary creature dubbed the Chupacabra, or Goat Sucker. Once again the authorities largely regard the deaths of livestock and pet animals as being linked to the activities of wild dogs, or even human agencies. The latest slaughter to sweep northern Chile has so far accounted for around 200 goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits and other sundry animals. A Reuters report of April 21 noted that some of the victims "had incisions in their throats and their blood had been sucked out." The report added, "detectives swept the zone with night vision equipment and that blood-curdling sounds were heard in the dark, causing residents not to venture outside."Curiously, in a Panafrican News Agency story I gathered on April 3 it was reported that villagers in the extreme north of the Sudan, on the Egyptian border, had lost over 600 sheep since 1999 to wild animals. People in the area have taken to sleeping with their flocks in order to deter the dog-like wolves they believe are responsible for killing their sheep. In one instance shepherds found the carcasses of dead animals piled on top each other in one corner of a pen close to a wall, and they claim this was carried out by the animal responsible in order to gain exit after dining heavily sheep innards.

Chupacabra Surfaces in Chile and Maybe Africa
Investigator Victor Espinosa, of Ecology Department, assisted by local police found that the footprints do not match any animal known in this region. He is making plaster molds of the footprints and taking some hair samples for later lLab analysis. "The paw prints do not match those of horses, cows, goats, pigs, felines or wild dogs". "After the lab examination we will be able to know what kind of animal it is" said Espinoza.
[Original headline: Expert Finds That Footprints Do Not
Match Any Animals Known In This Area]Espinosa points out that the animal walks on two legs and only attacks hot-blooded animals and not snakes or lizards of the region. Also, he points out the lack of fecal or urine close to the attacks.
Witnesses described the "animal" to be one meter (3.5 feet) tall, covered in hair, yellow eyes and walking on two legs.
NOTE: We also received other reports: Police and local ufologists received reports of strange red lights (UFOs) in the region. Anti-narcotic police went to investigate the area looking for a clandestine trafficker airport, but to their surprise, found a perfect triangular mark. Locals said they never had seen that mark before the 'Chupacabra' attacks.
Photos of the Chile footprints look to match the ones we took here in Miami during the 'Chupacabra' attacks in 1996.
