UNEXPLAINED SAND CIRCLES APPEAR IN TEXAS

The sand circles discovered in the Rio Grande in the Upper Valley are not the work of aliens after all but of a local artist named Michael Alford.

Alford said he spent a month and a half digging up the concentric circles with the help of students from the El Paso Country Day School.

"Art is a mystery, but this mystery is man-made, not alien-made," Alford said.

This afternoon, dozens of people went out to the site to see the circles for themselves.

The set of previously unexplained circles was found this week in the middle of a dry Rio Grande. The largest circle contains three other circles, each made by 8-inch deep trenches on a sand berm between Artcraft and Borderland roads in the Upper Valley.

Unexplained sand circles -- kind of like crop circles without the crops -- have been found in the middle of a dry Rio Grande in the Upper Valley.

"It's pretty weird," Antonio Padilla of Sunland Park said while looking over the series of circles on a sand bed.

At least one man claimed to have seen a mysterious light in the sky land in the area and take off on Tuesday night, Padilla said.

The largest circle is about 35-feet wide contains three other circles made by an 8-inch deep trenches in sand bed in the middle of the river bed between Artcraft and Borderland roads.
