Hundreds of people now consider a Cathedral City home a spiritual gathering because the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared there.
An image on a bedroom wall looks a lot like the virgin of Guadalupe and it has people captivated. It’s a reflection from a nearby closet light hitting a clothing iron.
Back in December, Carlos Contreras' wife Blanca Villa set an iron down and discovered the image, they haven’t touched it since. He believes it's more than just a coincidence, he says it's inspired him to be a better father and husband and his family now goes to church more often.
Every month they host a prayer session at their house in cathedral city. We're told some have wept when they see the image.
For them, the reason the virgin of Guadalupe is so special is that Catholics believe the Virgin Mary miraculously appeared to a man near Mexico City in the form of an indigenous woman in 1531.
You've heard these types of stories before, religious images appearing in things like tortillas and grilled cheese sandwiches, but Carlos says it's hard not be surprised seeing the image in his house.

But for now, Carlos won't be turning the closet light off, even at night. He’s afraid he might lose the image.
