FARSHORES SUPPORT PAGE :. |
|
Farshores has always strived to bring visitors like yourself the latest paranomaly news and articles entirely at no cost. It has done so under a number of different hosts and formats since 1998!
However, throughout most of this time, each page available for viewing contained at least one sponsor's advertising banner. In late 2004 it was decided that the website and it's loyal visitors deserved something more and farshores.org was established.
Our current host (25free.com - it's not free, btw!), provides a bandwidth base of 2000MB each month for a set fee. Over and above this allotted amount additional bandwidth can be purchased. The consistent growth in farshores' popularity has resulted in 2000MB currently being consumed by visitors to the site in a mere 4-6 days. In order to avoid suspension of service I have been regularly digging into my own pocket in order not to disappoint many of you who visit on a daily and weekly basis.
There are a number of factors why this cannot continue:
There still remains approximately 40% of files to be ported across from the old website (100megsfree). This, coupled with the new material constantly being added on an almost daily basis, greatly increases the rate at which bandwidth expires. Additionally, I possess a huge archive of related material I would like to see published on farshores.
In order to try and keep bandwidth useage to a minimum, I am unable to use all the images and other material I would wish. I know some of you have expressed the hope that a greater number of pictures can be used throughout the site. Images eat bandwidth.
Like yourselves I have no wish that advertising should intrude upon pages, although I have turned to Amazon.com lately as a way of supplementing website finances. This, in spite of some welcomed support from visitors, is a relatively poor and longterm alternative. Recently I turned down a good cash offer to allow text advertising on farshores' Index page. I took a decision against it because it would have involved incorporating seven ads - none of which would have been identified as such.
Any donation, however small, can make a difference in keeping farshores.org online and thereby ensuring it is readily accessible to yourself and others anytime. With such vital support this website can provide increased and comprehensive coverage of a great many more related topics, of especial interest to visitors like you. If you feel perhaps the time has come to give a little back in return for what you have read and discovered on these pages over the years, then please email for further details on how you can help make this happen.
Why wait - you can do it now!
