Mysterious strange lights have been sighted in the night sky in rural South Devon.
Now UFO spotters are investigating to try and discover the source of the objects over the Chudleigh Knighton area. David Gillham, chairman of the Cornwall UFO Research Group based in Truro, Cornwall said there were two witnesses, and he appealed for any other to contact him. A motorist had just come off the A38 onto the B3344 at Chudleigh Knighton, when the passenger noticed what he thought was a shooting star.
"Then he realised it was something else because of the angle. The light was coming down, and at about 200 feet above the ground it stopped dead, then moved slowly to the left.
"The witness noticed there was a very large round light. The light moved around, then the shape became clearer. It was like a very large boomerang, about the size of two houses.
"Then, to his surprise, five to eight blue or red lights came on towards the left of the main white light, with a similar number of red lights coming on, on the right."
Mr Gillham said the "boomerang" followed the car along the road, and then shot off in the Newton Abbot direction at a very fast speed.
Mr Gillham said "boomerang" shapes were becoming a frequent phenomenon.
"There have been quite a few in Arizona, USA, and some in Cornwall, the latest at Chacewater. This is the first I have heard of in Devon, and there is obviously something going on which we need to get to the bottom of."
