(Original headline: IS THIS A UFO CAUGHT ON CAMERA OVER CITY? )
Puzzled residents in Plymouth are trying to unravel the second UFO mystery to strike the city in two years.
The Herald has received two separate sightings of 'silver balloon-like objects' speeding over the Millbridge area of the city on Saturday at around 8.30pm.
Warehouseman Jay Waldrom, 32, snapped the two 'shiny' objects with his digital camera, although he said the objects were travelling too fast to get a clear picture.
Mr Waldrom said: "My wife Nicola and I were sitting in our garden when we saw these two shiny objects.
"They looked like balls at first and were alternately flashing, although when you study them for a bit longer, and blow the photographs up a little, they look saucer-ish."
He added: "I'm the most rational bloke alive, and I don't believe in flying saucers or that sort of thing.
"But I don't know what they were - I don't think the objects were an aeroplane, and it wasn't a balloon, and it wasn't a trick of the light."
Another resident, who did not want to be named, said: "I spotted them at around 8.15pm to 8.30pm - three of us in the room saw them.
"It was difficult to tell what altitude they were at, but they were round and a sort of silver-grey colour and they were travelling fast. I just couldn't say what they were."
Police said the objects had not been reported to them.
A spokesman said: "They haven't been brought to our attention."
Two years ago, a city-based amateur photographer captured an 'unidentified flying object' hovering above St Budeaux.
The man who took the photograph, a dockyard worker living in St Budeaux, didn't realise what he had snapped until he got home and inspected his pictures.
