Las crónicas más completas sobre el suceso corren a cargo de dos mujeres, quienes comparten online cada uno de los pasos de sus investigaciones. Esoterismo, Chupacabras y pólizas de seguros millonarias son parte de esta historia.

Cada día aparecen más vacas con sus órganos mutilados y sin rastros de sangre. Se sabe que alguien les quita la lengua, un ojo, una oreja, las ubres, el recto... Faltan determinar autores y causas. Hay casos al norte de la provincia de La Pampa, en Choele Choel (Río Negro), al sur de la provincia de Buenos Aires y en Moisés Ville, en el departamento San Cristóbal (Santa Fe). Dos investigadoras suben a Internet las crónicas más completas sobre la versión actual y argentina del enigma de las vacas muertas. A través de sus respectivos portales, ellas reportan las distintas lecturas sobre un fenómeno que ha llegado también a las primeras planas de diarios y noticieros televisivos.

"Crónica de animales mutilados. Muerte y misterio en Salliqueló", titula su informe sobre el tema Claudia Bustos, editora de www.salliquelo.com.ar. La reacción cibernética de este pequeño poblado rural, ubicado a 550 kilómetros de la Capital Federal, es realmente imperdible. Los menos de 10 mil habitantes del pueblo ya discuten las misteriosas mutilaciones registradas en la zona a través de un foro y canales de chat, herramientas interactivas de un completo especial dedicado a llevar el misterioso suceso a la web. Los textos de Bustos son la puerta de ingreso a historias increíbles, como la del "Chupacabras", una mezcla de murciélago y canguro con terribles garras y uñas: "Dicen que salta o vuela hacia los árboles, y ataca rápidamente desde caballos hasta pollos, chupándoles completamente la sangre". En el año 1975, ante una oleada de casos de mutilaciones de animales en Moca (Puerto Rico), los medios de comunicación dieron vida a "El Vampiro de Moca". Podemos afirmar, entonces que estamos escribiendo la historia de "El Vampiro de Salliqueló"?", se pregunta.

Desde el portal Visión Ovni, (http://webs.sinectis.com.ar/rdva/notas.html#primconclusion), Andrea Perez Simondini sigue el tema con criterio interdisciplinario aunque asomándose al más alla. "Tenemos comunicación con investigadores del exterior que nos asesoran. Les enviamos los primeros reportes para lograr establecer similitudes con los casos que se vienen produciendo hace más de 30 años en los estados de Colorado, Montana y Texas, en los Estados Unidos. La respuesta no se hizo esperar, confirmaron que estábamos en presencia del mismo fenómeno", dice Simondini. "El Quinto Hombre", la revista digital de Fabio Zerpa (www.fabiozerpa.com/ElQuintoHombre/junio02/Ovnilogia1_16.htm), lleva todavía más lejos la hipótesis extraterrestre. "Los ovni surcaron el cielo de Salliqueló y dejaron evidencias muy significativas de que "Ellos" realizan mutilaciones de ganado, en forma científica...", dice Zerpa en un texto que tituló "Visualización masiva de Ovni con mutilación de ganado".

Claro que las versiones de científicos y organismos oficiales son mucho más cautas. El veterinario Carlos Montobbio, encargado de revisar el ganado muerto en El Laurel, en la región del río Colorado, dice que el hecho es muy llamativo. "Las vacas tenían cortes perfectos y cauterizados en la cabeza y el cuerpo, les habían extraído la lengua y las glándulas salivales, toda la glándula mamaria, el recto y parte del intestino grueso y los órganos reproductivos", cuenta, negando toda posibilidad de un ataque animal o de algún depredador. "Habría desgarros, y aquí no vemos nada de eso", dice. Por su parte, el titular del Servicio Nacional de Sanidad Animal (SENASA), Bernardo Cané, consideró que la mortandad de vacas que aparecieron sin algunos de sus órganos, es un hecho "habitual" para esta época del año y que la ablación de partes de los animales podría deberse a "casos aislados de prácticas esotéricas".

En la inmensidad de la web no están ausentes los reportes de casos similares en distintas épocas y geografías. Las estadísticas hablan de más de 10 mil cabezas de ganado mutiladas, y de historias que verdaderamente convulsionaron a los pobladores rurales. Avanzando cronológicamente, en http://ebe.allwebco.com/Sections/Mutilations/Archive/cattle.shtml se refiere una investigación del Departamento de Policía de Alabama, EE.UU., llevada a cabo en 1992 ante hechos que guardan notorias similitudes con las mutilaciones en la Argentina. Las voces más escépticas del momento se reflejan en un artículo de una publicación mexicana (http://www.altillo.com/articulos/ovnis.asp) que siembra de dudas y hace una lectura "económica" del misterioso fenómeno: "Los ganaderos aseguran sus vacas. Como en todo, cuanto más te cubra el seguro, más caro es. De forma que la inmensa mayoría de los ganaderos aseguran sus vacas contra rayos, muerte por incendio, psicópatas asesinos e invasores extraterrestres, pero no contra ciertas enfermedades comunes, mordeduras de serpiente, cepos envenenados... Es decir, están asegurados en caso de que ocurra algo catastrófico que los deje sin vacas, que es lo barato, pero no contra accidentes frecuentes".
