A Very Large Craft With Red Flashing Lights

I had to share this because it was extremely unusual and I'm looking for someone who might have some answers. I have been into aviation and astronomy for my whole life but I've never looked up at the sky and seen anything like this. I was at a birthday party with my wife in Saint Petersburg, Florida. About six or seven people were gathered around a bonfire in the backyard of the house we were at including my wife and me. The night was beautiful and clear. I had seen a brilliant meteor earlier on and was also impressed by a high altitude jetliner passing near the moon and having its contrails lit by it.
The moon was a little beyond half full and was about 15 degrees West of Zenith when my wife said to me, "hey look at that." I looked up and it took me a second to realize what I was seeing. There were two flashing red lights almost directly above me that appeared to be at the "wingtips" of an aircraft. However, the lights were so large and so far apart that the "craft" would have to be very low and immense in size. I would estimate at least three times the wingspan of a 747.
The lights were flashing on and off (not strobing - more like the lights on a radio tower) and had a period of about 1 second each. They were alternating on and off at each "wingtip." They were not bright like you expect from aircraft navigation lights but were actually a little bit on the dim side. The "craft" was moving at approximately jet aircraft speeds South-Southeast and it was completely silent. I listened intently for any sound and there was none. At the low altitude I perceived it was at, I would have definitely heard engine sounds from ANY known aircraft.
At this point I brought everyone's attention to the "UFO" and everyone that saw it was also freaking out about "what the heck is that?!" Some of the people wanted to take a picture of it, but I knew it really wouldn't show up in a picture and even if it did, all you would probably see is the red lights anyway.
I was busy concentrating on trying to see what was between the lights and whether or not the stars were being obscured by it. Unfortunately, the light pollution is bad in the city and since some outside lights were also on nearby, only the brightest stars were visible and I did not notice it crossing the paths of them. Also, unfortunate is that the craft passed to the East of the moon by a pretty significant margin so I was unable to use the moon as an aide either. So we watched the craft fly in a straight line for a short period (maybe 30 seconds) until it was about 45 degrees above the horizon (South of us now) when both lights went out and it was gone.
So here's what makes this object a UFO.
- With the lights as far apart as they were, as a single craft, it was definitely magnitudes larger than anything I know of.
- If it was as low as it looked, it had no engine sounds.
- I know of no precedent for an aircraft having red flashing lights on each wingtip. Normally you have red on one side and green on the other.
- I don't know why a pilot would decide to turn his only lights off over a busy air traffic area.
The only non-UFO explanation I have come up with is that the two lights were two separate aircraft but here are the problems with that explanation...
- I know of no precedent for a known aircraft to display only a single flashing red light of this type at night. (Isn't that normally reserved for obstructions like radio towers?)
- Why would both aircraft turn off their light at exactly the same time?
- The lights appeared close (not at high altitude) so where was the engine noise?
- The planes would have had to be flying perfectly parallel to each other and perfectly straight across from each other but at a very great distance to put the lights as far apart as they were. (Neither the formation nor the distance that military aircraft would normally fly.)
I offer this possibility so that maybe someone can tell me if I'm right about the flashing red lights and military formations but I must say that being there in that moment it 100% had the appearance and feel of a huge, silent, low flying craft.
I also got the impression that the lights were "turned on" to prevent collisions with other nearby aircraft and then turned off again when the craft felt it was safe to go back into a full "stealth" mode. I also thought that the red flashing lights were a great choice if you wanted other aircraft to avoid you but not draw attention to yourself because at first glance you would just appear as an unknown radio tower instead of an unknown aircraft that some other aircraft might "call in" to the tower.
I look forward to comments about my thoughts or anyone else that has witnessed a similar object and has any explanations
A Large Ball Of Fire With Tail (Meteor)

We were around SE 72nd, traveling west on SE Stark Street. A big orange ball of fire with a long white/yellow tail fell fast at a nearly 90 degree angle. Seemed close--I expected to see an explosion from impact but there was nothing. We\'re used to seeing shooting stars--this was like a shooting star x 1,000, close in. What the heck?

I'm googling like crazy to find someone to pass this on to. Around 5:30 this morning our phone lines lit up with calls from 4 people having seen a large orange ball streaking through the Central Okanagan. Described as south of Winfield or near Black Mountain. The callers (3 men and one woman) all said it appeared to have hit the ground and they saw a green glow that quickly went out. Police and fire have nothing to report.
A Series Of 3 Large Triangular Light Formations
Longmont, Colorado

Time: 6:40 - 7:30 p.m.+
3 very bright golden circular lights where seen in the eastern sky in a triangle formation above Longmont. The 3 lights slowly shifted into a diagonal line across the sky and sat stationary. They proceeded to shift into a horizontal line across the horizon and then slowly spread apart. For the next hour, the three lights seem to move in a large rotation across the sky but sat stationary for long periods. I placed high powered binoculars on one of the lights and it was a very bright golden color with a little red. The light I was observing was absolutely stationary in the middle of the sky close to the horizon. As the three lights where slowly rotating over a large area of the sky, one rose straight up in the sky with an enormous white bean below it. The beam was so large that it spanned a great deal of the sky as the light rose. The light rose up and gradually disappeared. Two of the lights remained stationary in the night sky along until 8:15pm when they were gone. At about 8:30pm, I observed a large oval shaped white light moving slowly across our window--a window at the apex of our vaulted ceiling. It passed slowly moving west towards the mountains. We live at the corner of Hover and Hwy 66 in Longmont, Colorado.
Object Showers Down What May Be Molten Metal

I was standing in my backyard talking on the phone when I looked up to see this object that consisted of four glowing orbs that seemed to be undulating and sparkling. Not like strobe lights of an aircraft but as if the atmosphere was burning off of an invisible force field. It was moving from south to north over Santa Rosa mountains at a slow rate of speed, maintaining altitude guestimation approx 8 to 10 thousand feet, due to the fact that the cloud cover was down around San Jacinto Mountain which is 8500 feet at the peak. So it had to be below 8000 ft.or so. As I observed the object, it seemed to be changing shape and then at one point it literally began to shower down what looked like molten metal or some kind of sparks that seemed to rain down from below it, orange in color, similar to what you would see like slag from a welder. The object had to be as big as a standard size home or larger. It then stopped raining the orange sparks and it changed to blue and white sparks.
All the while continuing to move from south to north. And then it seemed to almost come to a stop as it slowly became smaller and then disappeared below the clouds, as if it was not there. This is the third sighting of this object over a one month period of time. It has always been approx between 7 and 8 pm with some cloud cover. It has always been below the cloud cover. The first two sightings of the object it was moving west to east and came to a complete stop and hovered in one place. The first sighting there were three of us that witnessed it. The second sighting only two of us and the third sighting, two of us. Also the third sighting, which was the most recent, it seemed to be flying at a lower altitude and moving south to north vs. west to east.
It seems to be the same object because of the same colors which is an amber orange glowing object and the entire object is emanating the light, not from external lights. After the third sighting we are wondering what exactly we are seeing. It is definitely not a meteorite or something of that nature. I took astronomy in college and astrophysics and I know that we have nothing in the sky that can do what this object has done and I do not believe that this is a natural phenomenon. If you have any feedback please call me at the number above. I will do my best to video tape the object if I see it again. Now that I have seen it 3 times, I have my video camera ready and will try to capture it on film. I am curious to know whether or not anyone else has reported seeing this object at the same time. Odd Object (Unknown)
South Of Peachland, British Columbia

I walked on to my balcony and noticed an oddly slow moving but object south east of Peachland at about 5,000-10,000 feet. The white, red and blue colors didn't switch rapidly but more so faded into others and sometimes appeared all at once, neither was more prevalent, but I could notice the white the most (most likely because it's very dark out). The movement of this aircraft also struck me as odd. It would travel in a straight line and appear get closer in distance and it would drift to the right, slightly back to the center, then further left. The closer the craft got, to where I was standing and to the moonlight I could make out that the aircraft was spinning but the pattern didn't appear to be fixed and was slanted on an axis, almost like a top (the children's toy). The lights took on a more blinking effect at this time.
Wasn't an incredible fast moving object but the flight path was like nothing I've ever seen. Upon movement there were no soft arcs but rather very tight changes. I took a video with my camera, my cell phone, and took numerous pictures with both but its hard to say if I captured any of the essence until I get the pictures on my computer tomorrow. I watched the object until 11:45pm as it seemed to disappear abruptly. Update: it's now 12:34am and I went to check on the object and it is now over the mountains east of Peachland, and the only way I can describe the movement is if you tied a tennis ball to a rope, dangled it and slightly swung it in circles keeping the tennis ball parallel to the ground.
A Cone Shaped Object Descends Below Airliners

I saw a strange cone shaped object descend below several passing airliners at the edge of town. I was coming home from school from Ankeny and there were several planes flying in the sky. This is when I noticed this object before entering the north end of town. It was coned shape like I said and it descended below high flying airliners {about three of them} and then it just disappeared in about four seconds. It was a bright white colored craft. It was flying straight towards the west at the time. I hope the pilots had a good view of it. That would be wonderful if one of them saw this craft.
Object Moving In Circular Pattern
North Shuswap Lake, British Columbia

An object moving in a very slow circular pattern and blinking/flashing multiple colors in a tight pattern spanning 20 minutes and counting. It remained fixed for some time as viewed through the branches of a tree. It has now descended below the view through the trees estimated distance is difficult, but at least 30 km.
Disk UFO Comes Out Of Rectangular UFO

I was just going in my backyard to have a smoke and take a glimpse of the lunar eclipse when I see an object that seemed very high in the air and was completely stationary with two dim lights in the mid section of this irregular rectangle. After I saw this, I saw a disk shaped object coming towards my left as if it came from the large stationary ship, it had lights on the bottom in the shape of a circle. The object came more towards my direction and it circled me and went over my house and passed my neighbor's house and went out of site. It was amazing because it didn't even make a sound, and to be honest I'm quite terrified by these things. I know what I saw and I am truly scared of what these things are going to do when they land here in the obviously not too distant future.
